Our Core Team

Our Founder & CEO

Alisha Brown is a nurse and the founder of A Greater Love (AGL), a Nashville-based agency dedicated to empowering adults with developmental disabilities through community integration, inclusion, and independence. Since beginning her nursing career in 2008, Alisha has been a tireless advocate for creating opportunities that allow individuals with disabilities to thrive as active and valued members of their communities.

Her journey was inspired by her great-uncle Boyce Bolden, affectionately known as “Uncle Pete,” whose life and spirit instilled in Alisha a deep passion for ensuring that adults with disabilities receive the respect, opportunities, and support they deserve.

In 2012, Alisha transitioned into developmental disability services, working as a shift nurse in a medical residential home before quickly advancing to an administrative role. Her hands-on experiences illuminated the need for innovative programs that emphasize independence and inclusion.

Today, AGL focuses on empowering adults through key services that align with its mission of fostering community integration and self-determination:

  • Community Integration Programs: Helping individuals build meaningful connections through activities, events, and partnerships that bring them closer to their communities.

  • Life Skills and Empowerment Services: Equipping individuals with the tools they need to achieve personal independence and self-reliance.

  • Supported Employment: Facilitating job training and placement to enable individuals to find purpose and contribute through meaningful work.

  • Family-Model Residential Services: Providing home-like living environments where individuals can live with dignity and autonomy.

Alisha believes that true care goes beyond meeting basic needs—it’s about fostering independence, building confidence, and creating opportunities for individuals to lead fulfilling lives. She emphasizes the importance of empowering caregivers as well, offering resources and support to sustain their essential roles.

As AGL continues to grow, Alisha remains committed to advancing her mission by building inclusive communities, advocating for systemic change, and celebrating the unique potential of every individual she serves. For her, the legacy of “Uncle Pete” lives on in every step toward a world that values diversity, inclusion, and empowerment.
